Suspected burglar shot, killed by worker

NEW YORK

Investigators said the two suspects went through the roof of the Met Supermarket on Jamaica Avenue in Queens just after 2:15 a.m.

You can still see the hole in the ceiling where the two burglars broke in.

They must have thought the place would be empty, but as the two men wandered through the store, they came upon a store employee.

The two men were armed and they wanted the safe.

The store manager doesn't know much because the employee, Angeles Candido, 54, was taken to the 103 precinct for questioning after the shooting.

The District Attorney has declined to press charges, even as they review the stores elaborate surveillance camera video for evidence.

Regardless of what the police do, the manager of the store is not pleased with his employee shooting and killing the burglar.

The police say the employee used a gun kept by the store, but the manager says they don't have one.

"The only gun we have is a pricing gun," said Luis Rodriguez, the store manager.

The second suspect fled the scene and was still being sought.
