Destructive chain reaction crash in Brooklyn

NEW YORK

A driver of a school bus gave chase after being hit by a Mercedes.

While trying to get away, the Mercedes took off and lost control hitting a deliveryman riding a bicycle and slamming into several parked cars before coming to a stop.

His head pinned beneath the wheel of a car, the victim could not move.

His bicycle sat on the street, just one piece of evidence now in the mountain of twisted metal left behind at the scene.

Anna Mickalizzi had just gotten her young daughter out of her SUV and walked in for piano lessons, when she heard the crash.

But her car was not the worst of it.

Police say the driver of the black car first struck a school bus and the driver of the car tried to get away.

As the school bus driver started to chase him, the driver of the black car accelerated, according to police, and struck the man on the bicycle.

After the black car hit the man on the bicycle, the driver, police say, lost control and slammed into the car parked on the side of 18th Avenue, which was Mickalizzi's car.

The deliveryman was rushed to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
