Lawmakers want MTA ticket money to go to MTA

STATEN ISLAND

The money would come from traffic tickets written by MTA officers at its bridges and tunnels.

There are about 40,000 tickets written each year, but all the money currently goes to the city's general revenue fund.

On Staten Island, they're calling for a law to shift that cash to the MTA so it can restore some of the bus and subway service it has cut.
