Police hunt for driver in deadly Queens hit and run

NEW YORK

"Happy Valentine's Daddy, I love you," said Melisa Martin, the victim's daughter.

Those words will stay with Melisa Martin for the rest of her life.

It was the last thing she said to her 65-year-old father, before someone plowed into him on Rockaway Boulevard early Friday morning.

"They left him for dead and didn't stop," Martin said, "Please turn yourself in. You've taken away my father and now we don't have that from him."

It happened at 12:30 a.m.

Carlos Carlo was walking to soothe a heart condition that kept him up at night.

He was hit and killed near the sidewalk.

It happened right in view of several surveillance cameras in the area.

The cameras from a hotel may have picked up an image of the dark colored sedan involved.

Friday night, where Rockaway Boulevard meets 137th Avenue, a sign flashes information about the incident.

Police are looking for tips as the victim's family is trying to summon the strength to move forward.

"Today was my birthday. He was supposed to be there celebrating with me. I'm going to live the rest of my life knowing my dad died on my birthday," Martin said.

Anyone with information is urged to call authorities.
