St. Patrick's Day Parade street closures in New York City

NEW YORK

The parade starts at 44th Street at 11:00 am. It's usually held every March 17th, which is St. Patrick's Day, but this year March 17th falls on a Sunday. So the celebration is Saturday due to religious observances.

The parade marches up Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral at 50th Street to 79th Street, where the parade finishes at around 4:30 - 5:00 pm. Below are street closures for the parade on Saturday.

Formation:
Vanderbilt Avenue between 43rd Street and 46th Street
44th Street and 45th Street between Vanderbilt Avenue and 6th Avenue
46th Street through 48th Street between Park Avenue and 6th Avenue
5th Avenue between 42nd Street and 44th Street

Route:
5th Avenue between 79th Street and 44th Street

Dispersal:
5th Avenue between 86th Street and 79th Streets
80th Street through 85th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue

Miscellaneous:
63rd Street and 64th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue
Madison Avenue between 63rd Street and 64th Street

The above streets will be closed for this event.

New Jersey Transit doesn't want passengers drowning the shamrock to and from New York City's St. Patrick's Parade. Alcoholic beverages will not be permitted on any train to and from New York or Hoboken on Saturday.

Additional train service will be available on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Morris & Essex and Port Jervis lines on Saturday for the parade.

There also will be extra bus trips.
