Port Authority Police say an officer saw 51-year-old Orlando Lassiter leave a subway station in SoHo on Friday evening with a sword in his hand.
Investigators say Lassiter confronted people with the sheathed sword and ran away when police approached.
The officers quickly caught and disarmed him.
Lassiter faces disorderly conduct and weapons charges.
