Man in wheelchair rescued after falling onto Manhattan subway tracks

NEW YORK

It happened just before 6 Tuesday night on the East Side, at 59th Street and Lexington Avenue.

The man, a double amputee, accidentally rolled off the subway platform.

Several bystanders jumped down onto the tracks to pull him to safety.

Police say the man was not seriously hurt. He was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
