Grinch stole Christmas for 4 hospital employees

NEW ROCHELLE

Smashed car windows, stolen money and paychecks are some items stolen from nurses who were inside a hospital, working at the time.

Somebody broke into their cars in the parking lot of the Montefiore Medical Center. And the timing could not be worse.

Nurse Elizabeth Ogilvie was one of the victims.

"The money's gone. You better give me back my $400," said Ogilvie.

After nurse Ogilvie was working the overnight shift at Motifore in New Rochelle, she saw her credit cards and paycheck was all gone.

It was money she was going to use to buy her kids Christmas gifts.

"We didn't buy no Christmas gifts for my kids because Christmas was Wednesday and we didn't get paid until Thursday," Ogilvie said.

Ogilvie wasn't the only hospital employee who was victimized.

The windows of nurse Daffney Lawrence's car were also smashed.

"I'm a little disturbed and confused about the whole situation," said Lawrence.

In all, police say four cars in the employees' parking lot next to the medical center were broken into.

It's not clear if cameras recorded what happened.

The only thing that is certain is the thief should forever avoid Nurse Elizabeth Ogilvie if they know what's best for them.

"Trust me, if I was out here when they did this, I would have knocked them down," said Ogilvie.

As for who did all of this, police don't have much of a description. They say a man was seen fleeing the scene on a bike.
