Up Close: Super Bowl

NEW YORK

As big as the game and the competition on the field, there is competition off the field. Two states, New York and New Jersey, are vying for hotel guests, restaurant guests and overall bragging rights.

At stake: tens of thousands of visitors, and millions of dollars in revenue.

New York gets the lion's share of attention, but the Garden State wants part of the spotlight too.

Joining us is East Rutherford Mayor James Cassella and Jim Kirkos, President and COO for the Meadowlands Liberty Convention Visitors Bureau.

Also, this is the first Super Bowl since the Boston Marathon bombings, and security is going to be tight.

With us to talk about security and the unique challenges this Super Bowl may bring is Nicholas Casale, former chief of counterterrorism for the MTA and owner of the security firm Casale Associates.

Finally, you don't need a ticket to the big game to get in on some Super Bowl action.

For four days starting Jan. 29th, 13 blocks of Broadway from 34th St. to 47th St. will be blocked off for a number of events, including concerts.

Joining us to discuss the events is Brian McCarthy, vice president of communications for the NFL.

Watch Up Close with Diana Williams every Sunday morning at 11:00 on Channel 7.
