Queens triple murder suspect arrested in Texas

JAMAICA

Miguel Mejia-Ramos, 28, was taken into custody just before midnight in the grisly deaths of 21-year-old Deisy Garcia and the couple's baby girls, 2-year-old Daniela Mejia 1-year-old Yaslin Mejia.

He was arrested without incident during a traffic roadblock in Schulenburg, located between San Antonio and Houston, in a 2001 Chevrolet van with New York State commercial license plates. He is in US Marshals custody, and charges against him are pending.

NYPD detectives are headed to Texas to interview Mejia-Ramos before he is extradited to New York.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of stab wounds that were not life-threatening.

Garcia's family was surrounded by friends and loved ones Monday night at a vigil put together by their church family. Hundreds of people with heavy hearts are trying to cope with the loss.

Deisy was discovered dead in her Jamaica, Queens, apartment Sunday night, after relatives became concerned when the family didn't show up at church.

All three victims were stabbed multiple times.

Relatives and close friends say Garcia was the victim of domestic violence. But sadly, they say she was too afraid to call police, fearing she would be deported to Guatemala.

A faithful member of her church, Garcia always put in trust in God.

"She was a great mother," family friend Sarei Hernandez said. "She loved her kids. You could tell she loved her kids a lot. She was a really happy mother. She was proud of her daughters. She never left them alone."
