A fiery accident closed the upper level of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in both directions for much of the Tuesday morning commute.

Traffic is flowing again Tuesday afternoon, but the nightmare incident backed up traffic for miles.

A tractor-trailer and car collided on the Staten Island-bound upper level shortly before 7 a.m. and burst into flames, scorching both vehicles.

Firefighters were on the scene putting out hotspots following the fire.

No injuries were immediately reported.

The Brooklyn-bound lanes reopened shortly before 8 a.m. but the Staten Island-bound lanes remained closed for awhile longer.

The bridge's lower level remained open.
