UPPER WEST SIDE (WABC) -- The teenage driver charged with running over and killing a 4-year-old girl on the Upper West Side is due back in court Wednesday.
Eighteen-year-old Franklin Reyes, Jr., is charged with manslaughter and unlawfully fleeing a police officer.
He has been offered youthful offender treatment, with a reduced sentence of 16 months to four years in prison if he pleads guilty.
But the parents of that little girl, Ariel Russo, want the judge to rescind the offer.
They point to Reyes's new arrest, as he's now accused in a separate incident of looting the apartment of a dead woman along with his father.
Authorities say the two took more than $2,000 worth of jewelry, cash and wine from the apartment of an elderly tenant who had recently died of brain cancer.
The younger Reyes was charged after his SUV jumped a curb on June 4, 2013, and killed Russo as she stood with her grandmother at West 97th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
