Lions, tigers, and trapped bears in trees, oh my!

A young female bear was rescued from a tree in Tracy, Calif. this Wednesday after being shot with tranquilizer darts.

The homeowner said that he didn't notice the bear until he noticed children gathering around to look at it, according to News10.

"I went to the gym came back home, and didn't notice it, so I think it was up there the whole time," Daniel Sotelo, the homeowner who found the bear in his tree, told News10.

Officers from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife arrived and fired four tranquilizers at the bear, three hitting the creature. The bear then fell from the tree, with more than 100 onlookers gathering to take a picture of the creature.

"We don't know where it came from, we don't know where it originated," Perry Schultz from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife told News10. Tracy is not surrounded by mountains or forests, a bear's natural habitat, making the situation even more perplexing.

Tracy police said it will take the bear several hours to sleep off the tranquilizers. The bear was then safely released into a wooded area following the incident.
