SOUNDVIEW, Bronx (WABC) -- A tower ladder knocked a power line onto three FDNY vehicles as firefighters battled a Bronx fire, energizing them on Tuesday afternoon.
Thankfully, no firefighters were in the vehicles when the wires came down. They were all inside the large six story building on Watson Avenue, battling the blaze.
Two firefighters were injured -- one was treated for smoke inhalation, the other for a minor burn to the back of the neck.
No civilians were injured.
As firefighters began to entire the fire apartment, it spread above them into the cockloft -- an area above the ceiling line and below the ceiling.
The roof did not collapse but it was cut up by firefighters to vent fire and smoke.
There was extensive fire damage in three apartments and there will probably be water damage in all of the apartments below.
Residents will not be allowed back in the building in the areas that were not damaged.
Fire marshals are still investigating the cause, but it is not believed to be suspicious.
