PHOTOS: Illinois zoo dolphin calves celebrate 1st birthday

BROOKFIELD, Ill. -- The Brookfield Zoo is celebrating birthdays for two of its dolphins, Merlin and Magic.

Both calves turn one-year-old this month - but had very different experiences growing up.

Merlin was raised by his mom, while Magic was raised by zoo staff because his mother would not care for him. Magic was introduced to Merlin in short visits, and then began living with Merlin and his mother Tapeko when he turned eight-months-old.

The birthday celebration was held at the Seven Seas exhibit.
