Police find gun stashed in Bible, pot, knife in car in Flatbush

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police officers in Flatbush found one weapon in the unlikeliest of places -- a Bible.

The officers found the book in a car during a stop at Ocean Avenue and Dorchester Road early Monday.

Officers smelled marijuana and immediately started looking through the car. At first glance, they spotted a King James Bible containing the Old and New Testament.

But when officers took a closer look, they found it was a hollowed out case for a Glock 17 handgun and 10 bullets.

Marijuana and a knife also were seized, and all three people in the car were arrested.

Andre Allen, 32; 21-year-old Satina Ferguson and DeShawn Thompson, 24, were charged with two counts of weapons possession and unlawful possession of marijuana.
