BED-STUY (WABC) -- Donna Benz and her husband, Bill say it feels like a nightmare they can't wake up from. Their 27-year-old son, Sean is clinging to life and is incoherent after being hit while riding his bicycle. Sean is the victim of not one, but two hit and runs.

"It's very frustrating for us to sit in a room watching him suffer, basically - and he can't communicate because he is sedated, and I don't even know that when he wakes up that he knows where he is," says Bill.

The moment of impact is very graphic, but Benz was struck behind a gas station pump, and was then hit again, tossing the Bedford-Stuyvesant man about a dozen feet.

"He did reveal to us that he's really scared and paranoid, and he's scared. I've never gone through anything like this in my life," adds Donna.

The hit and run happened on October 21st around 2 a.m. by Bedford and Atlantic Avenues as Benz was on his way home. At 6'4", 235 pounds, he is built like a pro football player. Benz is now at Kings County Hospital where he is unable to breathe on his own, with 15 broke ribs, pneumonia, a dislocated hip, a fractured arm and clavicle, and swelling from head to toe.

According to a witness, the first vehicle that struck Benz is a white SUV, possibly a Lincoln. The second vehicle was likely a white Nissan Maxima.

Bill says he believes that it is only a matter of time until the two drivers are caught.

"My family and I will not rest until you are brought to justice," he says.

The Benz' say more important than justice, though, is that they get their son back. At this point, there is no way to know if he will pull through.
