Man grabs woman in chokehold on elevator, steals purse

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police are looking for a man they said mugged a woman in an elevator in Harlem.

At 11 p.m. March 19, in a building at West 141st Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, the suspect got on the elevator with a 50-year-old woman. When she tried to get off the elevator, the suspect put her in a chokehold and stole her pocketbook containing $380.

The suspect then fled through the building's back door.

He is described as a black male, about 35, 6 feet, and about 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing glasses, a dark hooded jacket, a white shirt, green pants and a black hat. He has an earring in his right ear.
