5 apartments evacuated after chunk of concrete falls off Union Square building

UNION SQUARE (WABC) -- A chunk of concrete from a 6-story building came crashing down in Union Square.

The concrete landed on the sidewalk of East 17th St. around 7 p.m. Monday.

5 apartments were evacuated and a sidewalk shed will be constructed.

A violation has been issued for failure to maintain the exterior of the building.
