WESTPORT, Ct. (WABC) -- Authorities in Connecticut say two suspects are in custody after a bank robbery led to a police pursuit and a crash on the Merritt Parkway in Norwalk.

At around 10 a.m. Tuesday, a TD Bank on East Post Road in Westport was robbed.

Shortly thereafter, the vehicle was spotted traveling east on the Post Road near Compo Road.

An attempt was made to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused and a pursuit began that subsequently ended due to traffic and road conditions. The suspect vehicle, no longer being pursued, then was observed entering the Merritt Parkway at Wilton Road headed westbound in the eastbound lanes.

An unmarked Westport Police car entered in the proper direction and observed that the suspect vehicle had been involved in a crash with at least two vehicles and saw the two suspects flee into the adjacent woods on foot. After a short foot pursuit, one suspect was apprehended without incident.

A search of the area by numerous police units from Westport, Norwalk, Wilton, New Canaan and Connecticut State Police located the second suspect about 25 minutes later. He was also arrested without incident.
