Off-duty NYPD officer killed after car crashes, bursts into flames on Henry Hudson Parkway

NEW YORK (WABC) -- An off-duty NYPD officer was among two killed in a fiery accident on the Henry Hudson Parkway early Saturday.

Police say Kimberly Lajara, 24, was an officer at the 121st Precinct on Staten Island.

Lajara was driving south on the Parkway just before 4 a.m. when her car struck a median near West 98th Street, hit a tree and burst into flames.

Both Officer Lajara and the passenger in her car, Oscar Monegro, 32, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
