First poll after GOP debate shows Trump still leading, but Fiorina gaining

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The first national poll after this week's Republican presidential debate shows front-runner Donald Trump still leading the field, though his support has dropped, and Carly Fiorina surging.

The CNN poll shows Trump with 24 percent, followed by Fiorina at 15 percent, running neck and neck for second with Ben Carson.

Sen. Marco Rubio has moved into fourth place with 11 percent, with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 9 percent. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie remains back in the pack at 3 percent, behind Sen. Ted Cruz, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and Sen. Rand Paul.

-Trump is down 8 points since the last CNN poll on 9/10 and steady from the CNN poll one month ago on 8/17.

-Trump's 24 percent support matches his lowest national poll number since before the first debate (8/4)

-Fiorina is up 12 points from 3% to 15% since the last CNN poll on 9/10. This is her highest support in any national poll this cycle.

-Rubio is up 8 points from 3% in the last CNN poll on 9/10. This is his highest support in any national poll since mid-June (6/19 in NBC)

-This is Scott Walker's lowest support in any national poll this cycle. (less than 1 percent)

-Still, this is the 17th consecutive national poll, since mid-July, that shows Trump with the highest support in the GOP field.

The poll also sampled reaction to Wednesday night's debate, (per 234 registered Republicans who watched one or both debates)
