Boater in serious condition after water rescue in Far Rockaway

FAR ROCKAWAY, Queens (WABC) -- Two firefighters came to the rescue of a boater who was trapped in the waters off of Jamaica Bay in Queens.

The incident happened in Far Rockaway around 5 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say the man was working on his boat when he fell into the water.

First responders say the man was working on his boat when he fell into the water. He was rushed to St. John's Hospital in serious condition.

The two firefighters who jumped into the water were treated for exposure.
