Fatal fire in Newark
Two women identified in deadly fire.

NEWARK (WABC) -- Authorities have released the identities of two people who died Saturday in an early morning fire in Newark.

Charlotte McKinney, 65, and her daughter Tonia McKinney, 41, both of Newark, were pronounced dead at the scene. Three children and one adult were sent to area hospitals.

Firefighters responded to a residential home with two and half floors on Oakland Terrace around 6:30 a.m., according to a Newark Fire Department spokesperson.

They found the home heavily engulfed in fire and smoke.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Newark Fire Department's arson division and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office's arson task force, but at this juncture it doesn't not appear to be suspicious.
