Newark man found shot to death in building hallway, officials say

NEWARK (WABC) -- Police are investigating after a fatal shooting Friday night.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., Newark police officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Washington Street.

They found Alim Abdul-Ghafer, 35, of Newark, unresponsive, shot in the hallway of an apartment building. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
