FDNY spot man walking across frozen lake while practicing cold water rescues

CENTRAL PARK (WABC) -- A rescue drill turned very real for some of New York's bravest today.

A company of firefighters was practicing cold water rescues in Central Park when they spotted a man walking across the frozen lake.

The firefighters were already wearing insulated rescue suits and had their ropes out.

They reached the victim within three minutes, and pulled him from the freezing water.
