Fire Island fire in Cherry Grove leaves 4 building, businesses damaged

FIRE ISLAND, N.Y. (WABC) -- Several Fire Island businesses were damaged after flames broke out early Friday morning.

The fire started around 1:30 a.m. in Cherry Grove at Bayview Walk and Holly Walk. The fire damaged the Grove Hotel, and the Ice Palace and the Holly House Hotel, both Fire Island landmarks, as well as at least one home.

It's unclear how the fire started. Firefighters were brought in by ferry to help get the fire under control.

Three sustained minor injuries. One firefighters was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue. The other was treated and released at Stony Brook University Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
