LITTLE ITALY (WABC) -- There is quite an ambitious project going on in Little Italy in Lower Manhattan.

To help celebrate the annual San Gennaro Festival, one local bakery is trying to make the world's largest cannoli: 12 feet long, 350 pounds and 50 pounds of chocolate chips. to be exact.

The work is underway at the iconic Ferrara Bakery and Cafe on Grand St., which is now 122 years old.

The current record is 7 feet long, weighing 150 pounds with the filling.

It will be filled on site at the festival, bucket by bucket, and eaten there as well.

Ferrera's will also be giving out 2,000 mini-cannolis.
