SOHO, Manhattan (WABC) -- A New York City bakery is bringing back a childhood classic in a whole new way. Remember the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake ice cream bars? At Little Cupcake Bakeshop in SoHo, they've created their own version, but this time around, it's a cake, appropriately named Good Humor cake.
Just how does it taste? Delicious! Just like the ice cream you used to eat, except this time you don't have to worry about it melting. Salvatore LoBuglio, the owner of Little Cupcake Bakeshop said he used to eat the ice cream version every day and since he loved it so much, he was inspired to make a cake form. He said, "No one had it. I wanted it. " There's also a cupcake version too.
But if the Good Humor cake isn't for you, there are plenty of other items on the menu. There's the Brooklyn Blackout. It was named the best chocolate cake in America by Food and Wine magazine. Or how about a slice of the Oreo cake. It's a layer cake with vanilla, chocolate and oreo cookies inside.
In addition to cakes, they serve cookies, pies, and ice cream. You can also grab breakfast or an espresso.
According to the shop's website, prepare for celebrity sightings. Stars spotted at the bakeshop include Leonardo Dicaprio, Jessica Biel, and Steven Tyler.
Mike Chau aka @foodbabyny, the mastermind behind an incredibly successful food blog and Instagram account recently took abc7ny on an eating tour. Chau picked Little Cupcake Bakeshop as one of his favorite spots for treats.
