Stars of 'Galavant' talk about the show's premiere
Jennifer Matarese interviews Joshua Sasse and Karen David from ABC's "Galavant".

NEW YORK (WABC) -- If you love Disney fairy tales and musicals, then ABC's "Galavant" is the show for you!

The screenwriter/executive producer of "Tangled" and "Cars", Dan Foegelman, has teamed up with award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glen Slater for this new hour-long comedy musical.

Once upon a time, the dashing hero, Galavant (Joshua Sasse), lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson).

Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his "happily ever after." He helps Princess Isabella try to rescue her parents, but will she fall in love with our hero along the way?

The stars say they were attracted to the pilot because "how often do you come across a medieval comedy musical?" said Karen David, "Princess Isabella". "We were laughing constantly; it was hard to keep a straight face."

There are some big name guest stars in the first few episodes that you won't want to miss like Weird Al, Ricky Gervais, and John Stamos.

"John Stamos came in and he was just so up for a laugh and I had to do a joust against him on a horseback and we just had a riot!" Sasse said. "He had a riot and he came on and had a blast didn't he?"

You can watch the big premiere of "Galavant" Sunday, January 4 at 8 p.m. on ABC!
