Good Samaritan rescues man before car bursts into flames on Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. (WABC) -- A driver had to be rescued after a car crashed on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers early Friday.

A passerby pulled over and rescued the driver from the car before it burst into flames. The wreck occurred in the southbound lanes, just south of Tuckahoe Road exit.

The driver was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A female passenger in the car got out on her own and was uninjured.

The southbound Saw Mill River Parkway was briefly closed for the ensuing investigation.
