GLENDALE, N.Y. (WABC) -- An off-duty detective was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Queens Wednesday night.
The officer was hit by a car turning from 80th Street while he was crossing at Cooper Avenue and 80th Street just after 10 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle, possibly a Toyota SUV, did not stop.
The New York City Police officer sustained a non-life threatening head laceration. He spent the night at Jamaica Hospital for observation.
He is a detective assigned to a Housing Authority unit in Brooklyn.
