WEST BABYLON (WABC) -- Police on Long Island are searching for the driver who hit a man in a wheelchair and took off.
According to police, Michael Dora, 40, of West Babylon, was in the right lane on southbound Great East Neck Road when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling southbound in West Babylon at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Dora was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
The vehicle involved is believed to be dark in color, possibly a Nissan, with front-end damage.
The investigation is continuing.
