GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A popular New York City shop that's created a big buzz by serving up scoops of edible, raw cookie dough is now facing a lawsuit.
Two Manhattan college students are suing "Cookie DO NYC," which has a store in Greenwich Village.
They claim they got sick after visiting the store in March.
Cookie DO NYC claims its product is safe to consume -- it's made with pasteurized eggs and heat-treated flour.
The shop issued this statement late Friday:
"We stand behind the safety of our products and our representations about our products. We will fully and faithfully defend ourselves against any and all false accusations. The health and happiness of our customers has, and always will be, a top priority.
