The latest in the "100 Years of Beauty" video series shows an interesting contrast: how North Korea and South Korea's definitions of beauty have evolved differently in the past century.

The time-lapse video begins by showing the definition of beauty in Korea in the early 1900s. In the 1950s, the video splits to show two looks, one for North Korea and one for South Korea.

Though they are at first very similar, the two hair and makeup styles transform in different directions as time goes on. By modern times, the two styles are completely distinctive.

The video comes after the popularity of others showing the evolution of beauty, like when a white and black model were shown side-by-side to demonstrate varying styles of American culture.
