Lincroft Fire Company warning about donation call scam

LINCROFT (WABC) -- There is a new warning from a volunteer fire company in New Jersey - if you get a call asking for a donation to them, it's a scam.

The Lincroft Fire Company relies on donations for more than half of its annual budget, but someone who has been calling people asking for money is trying to pull a scam - the fire company never asks for donations over the phone.

The fire company is worried that this scam will compromise genuine efforts to raise money for lifesaving equipment.
