LINDEN, N.J. (WABC) -- One man was killed and three others were injured in a crash Wednesday morning on the New Jersey Turnpike in Linden.

State Police say Jonathan A. Donan, 22, of Jersey City, was operating a 2010 Honda Civic southbound in the left lane. The passengers in the car were Christian Donan, 14, Jose Cruz, 18, and Richard Donan, 19, all from Jersey City.

Based on the preliminary investigation, Donan lost control of his vehicle, traveled across the southbound lanes, ran off of the right side of the road, continued across a grass embankment, struck a utility pole and a fence before striking four parked cars in a parking lot.

As a result of the crash, rear passengers Cruz and Richard Donan were ejected from the vehicle, authorities said.

Both were airlifted to UMDNJ Hospital in Newark, where Cruz was pronounced dead.

Richard Donan is in critical condition.

Christian Donan sustained moderate injuries and was transported to UMDNJ where he is listed as in stable condition. Jonathan Donan was transported to UMDNJ Hospital and was treated for moderate injuries and released.

The accident is currently under investigation. There are no charges at this time.
