Teen slams into two people in front of Long Island apartment building
An 18-year-old is accused of driving drunk when police say he slammed into two people in front of an apartment building on Long Island.

ISLIP, Long Island (WABC) -- An 18-year-old is accused of driving drunk when police say he slammed into two people in front of an apartment building on Long Island.

The suspect had been driving on Union Boulevard in Islip around 2:44 p.m. when he ran off the road.

A man and a woman, 67-year-old Luis Trujillo and 47-year-old Veronica Deleon, were walking in front of the building and were struck by the car.

Trujillo was pronounced dead at the scene while Deleon was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries.

The driver was also taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say his car also hit a parked car, an electronic pedestrian crossing sign and a tree.

He is charged with DWI.
