Elite team of K9 veterans recognized during Mahwah gathering

MAHWAH (WABC) -- An elite team of K9 veterans got some well earned recognition Friday night in New Jersey.

Bergen County honored its U.S. Military and first responder-working dog teams during a special gathering in Mahwah.

The public was invited to the open house, which was held at the county's hall of heroes.

"K9 Veterans Day" is actually and an annual observance in New Jersey. New Jersey is the first state in the nation to pass a law recognizing the service and heroic actions of service dogs.
