Shirtless man refuses to come down from tree in downtown Los Angeles

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES -- A shirtless man climbed a tree in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday morning and refused to come down, police said.

Authorities said the man climbed the tree around 12:30 a.m. in the 500 block of San Pedro Street. The tree is about three stories high, police said.

Witnesses said the man was cutting limbs off the tree and throwing them down on the ground.

Police said he appears to have mental health issues. His identity was not immediately known.

Roads in the nearby area were blocked off.
