WHITE PLAINS, New York (WABC) -- A wake was held Tuesday for a Manhattanville College lacrosse player killed when he was struck by a suspected drunken driver early Sunday.

Mourners gathered at the Graham Funeral Home on Boston Post Road in Rye to pay their respects to 21-year-old Robert Schartner of Fishkill.

His funeral is set for Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The incident happened just before 5 a.m. at Westchester Avenue and Anderson Hill Road in White Plains.

Authorities say Schartner was struck by a 2012 Nissan Sentra driven by 24-year-old Emma Fox, of Rye.

Scharnter was pronounced deceased at the scene, and investigators determined Fox was intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content of .21, more than double the legal limit.

Fox was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and aggravated DWI. She is being held on $100,000 bail.

The attorney for Fox has asked that she be placed on suicide watch, saying that she is extremely distraught and remoreseful.
