Maplewood police hunting for suspect in string of home burglaries

MAPLEWOOD (WABC) -- Police in Maplewood are looking for the suspect behind a string of burglaries in the town in recent weeks.

The first occurred May 29, when police say the suspect entered an Oakview Avenue residence through a rear window while the homeowner was asleep in the living room. The suspect stole more than $100 cash.

On June 4, a Mountainview Terrace home was burglarized and more than $300 cash was taken.

That same day, a local resident discovered a man crouched behind a kitchen counter in his Oakview Avenue home. After a quick conversation, the suspect left without incident according to police.

He was described as 25-30 years old, 170-185 pounds, close cropped hair, wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt with grey sweat pants and black sneakers.
