NEW YORK (WABC) -- As the New York Mets face the Kansas City Royals in the World Series, it is the team's fifth trip to the Fall Classic in franchise history.

The Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles in 1969, lost to the Oakland A's in 1973, defeated the Boston Red Sox in 1986, and lost to the New York Yankees in 2000.

Here's a look back at some moments from Mets World Series history.


Oct. 12, 1969: Mets first baseman Donn Clendenon hits a solo home run in the top of the 4th to give the Mets a 1-0 lead in Game 2
