BOUND BROOK (WABC) -- A man is under arrest after authorities say he left a young child alone in an SUV while he drank inside a bar in New Jersey.
At about 8 p.m. on August 7, Bound Brook Police received a report of a young child being left alone in a silver Infiniti SUV parked on Hamilton Street.
Responding officers located the driver of the vehicle, 47-year old Theophilus M. Ammons of Los Angeles, in a Hamilton Street bar.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, the investigation revealed that Ammons left the 3 year old child in the running SUV for approximately 40 minutes while he consumed alcoholic beverages inside the bar.
Defendant Ammons has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 2nd Degree. Bail was set at $75,000.
Bound Brook police contacted the mother of the child, a Bound Brook resident, who responded to police headquarters and took custody of her daughter.
