NEW YORK (WABC) -- Local foster children in New York and New Jersey are receiving some special surprises and much needed supplies.

The children will receive Sweet Cases, which include toiletries and other everyday necessities, and bicycles from donations received by two companies as part of MilliCare's Month of Care program.

During the month of August, for every chair that MilliCare by Premier Restoration in NYC and MilliCare by Eco-Dry in NJ cleaned, $1 was donated to Together We Rise, a national foster child agency based in California. They partner with local foster care agencies across the country.

Together, the two locations raised more than $2,000, which will be donated to foster kids in Paramus, New Jersey, as well as New York City. The Together We Rise foundation has helped to provide thousands of foster youth across the country with new bicycles, college supplies and suitcases so that children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in a trash bag.

"Working with our clients to be able to give back to our local communities was a big part of this campaign," said Mark Schlossberg, with MilliCare by Premier Restoration. "To see the smiles on these kids' faces after everything they go through makes it all worth it."

MilliCare provides textile and carpet cleaning solutions for large facilities such as Fortune 500 company offices, government agencies, airports, hotels and other commercial buildings. In addition to textile and carpet cleaning services, MilliCare also offers environmentally safe air care and spot care, fiber preservation and entryway protection.

Together We Rise works with hundreds of foster agencies and major corporations to help make a difference in the lives of foster children across the country. The foundation raises funds and awareness for foster care and gives children a sense of normalcy through situations of great transition in their lives. They have helped more than 10,000 foster youth across the country by providing new bicycles, college supplies and suitcases of clothes to brighten their lives and assist in their transition to a new home.

The partner agencies in our area are Little Flower Children and Family Services and Children's Aid & Family Services of Paramus, New Jersey.
