How cold will the tri-state area get?

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Prepare yourself for a colder winter with more snowfall this season.

In the Tri-State region, we should expect frequent storms which could lead to above-average snowfall.

Typical in most winters, changeovers to sleet and rain could limit accumulations south of New York City and along the coast. This winter will be no exception.

Temperatures should run about 3-5 degrees colder than last winter. But keep in mind, 2015 was a relatively mild winter, so despite colder conditions in 2016, we will still be on par for a typical winter.
