Animal Humane Society worker shot and killed in Newark

NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- An Animal Humane Society worker in Newark was shot and killed Tuesday night.

Alvis G. Carrington, 43, was shot in the 200 block of Wainwright Avenue. That's the block he lived on.

He was pronounced dead at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday.

He worked with Animal Humane Society- Newark branch for 16 years.

He was on-call Tuesday night.

Alvis leaves behind a wife and children.

The investigation is active and ongoing. So far, there are no arrests.
