WAYNE, New Jersey -- A man died after a fast-moving fire tore through a home in New Jersey. The fire broke out around 8 a.m. Sunday in the basement of the home in Wayne.

The home was completely charred, with just the walls left standing. The far-reaching fire also reached the outside of the home, burning some of the vehicles parked outside.

Sadly, officials say an elderly man who lives at the home was found dead on the first floor, along with the family dog. The fire took four fire companies an hour to get under control.

The victim's wife was home at the time. While she was able to escape safely, she lost everything in the process.

The victim has not yet been identified.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
