NEW YORK (WABC) -- They were supposed to help keep New Yorkers safe in the event of a fire, but two men are under arrest and accused of pretending to carry out inspections.
Fire Prevention Inspector Edward Woychowski, and the owner of a private extinguisher servicing company, Alexandro Rios, are facing felony charges.
Woychowski allegedly lied about inspecting fire suppression systems.
And prosecutors say Rios falsely claimed he serviced systems, defrauding a dozen businesses.
