HILLSDALE (WABC) -- A dump truck caused quite a sight in Hillsdale, New Jersey when the vehicle fell through the pavement in the parking area of a strip mall on Broadway.

The truck fell into an underground parking garage underneath the strip mall early Friday afternoon.

The dump truck was delivering black top to a construction site at the time of the accident, officials said.

No one was evacuated from local homes, but the accident produced numerous detours and traffic delays in the area.

Hillsdale Fire crews were working with firefighters from Hackensack, Jersey City, Newark, Paterson, North Hudson Regional and Millburn to ensure the safe removal of the vehicle.

The cause of the collapse remains under investigation. Inspectors are also expected to check the structural integrity of the parking garage structure.
